This beauty is made of midweight Japanese Shijira weaving indigo dobby fabric with a Kasuri striped pattern, which gives the shirt a unique unevenness called “shibo”, created by the difference in elasticity between the number and combination of warp and weft yarns and an ultra-loose weave. The texture makes it pleasant to the touch, light, breathable and easy to wear. Shijira fabrics were used during the Meiji era as a fabric for summer Kimonos.

Kasuri is a Japanese word from the verb kasureru meaning “to blur”. This method was born in ancient India and was transmitted via Southeast Asia and Ryukyu to Japan. It creates patterns in the fabric through a dye process whereby threads are bound or resisted before the dyeing. First, the yarn is tied so the dye does not soak in. Then, the tied part remains white after the dyeing, so it becomes the pattern after it is woven.
